From the Beaches of Maui to the Sands of Pismo - Andrea Thomas REVIEWS Hotels & Condo Accommodations, Restaurants, RV Parks, Beaches, Surfing, Hiking Trails and more...
Now is the time to take the plunge and learn to surf in wonderful summer wave conditions in Pismo Beach. Contact Kathy or Andrea for your private lesson. We guarantee you will have fun with easy to understand instructions. You’ll be so proud of your self!
After living in Pismo Beach for a few months, I’m now spending some time in the Coachella Valley, aka Palm Springs/Palm Desert/Indian Wells/La Quinta and Rancho Mirage. I have a busy wedding business and pet and home sitting service that I have to tend to in this area to be exact.
I do want to cover some places I enjoy while in this neck of the woods. Tonight I had all you can eat sushi for $15 (ladies nite) at No-Da-Tae on El Paseo.
The atmosphere is nothing to boast about. But the service is good and the food is fresh. They were really busy the night I went, which was on Monday. That is when they have all you can eat for us gals for only $15! I used to go to a place in Reno that I loved, near Costco, that was $19 for all you can eat and I have been searching for a place like that ever since.
This is one of the best sushi places in the desert, without a doubt. The presentation is good and during the week it’s all you can eat for $25.
El Paseo is a nice area to explore and stroll anyway, but with a nice and reasonable sushi bar, it makes the area even better.
Pismo Beach now has surfing classes exclusively for women. Check out Pismo Beach Surf School and give Andrea Thomas or Kathy Petker, 805-235-2337 a call for more information.
I have now started doing weddings, vow renewals and commitment ceremonies in Pismo Beach. Check out my wedding site which has lots of information and suggestions.
My specialty is small beach front ceremonies with just the couple and maybe a few people. Morning or sunset is a great time to do these. When I was on Maui I officiated at over 1000 ceremonies and I have brought my caring ceremony to Pismo Beach and the cental california coast.
I’m enjoying doing weddings and vow renewals here and it’s the closest thing to Maui one can get. Send me an email or give me a call at 800.289.1522.
A group that I’m being introduced to is the Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition. I love what they do. As I drive and look around me, I’m appalled to see and constantly realize that we need fossil fuel as much as we need the air we breathe and that does not sit well with me.
Read about this group and tell me you can’t love them and their efforts! And be sure to check out their website to learn all about them.
The Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition (C5) is a partnership of public and private entities who promote the use of alternative fuel vehicles on the central coast of California.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the mission of the Clean Cities program is to enhance our nation’s energy security and air quality by supporting public and private partnerships that deploy clean-burning AFVs and build their associated fueling infrastructure.
As many of you know, I owned and operated Maui Surfing School for almost 20 years while living on the island of Maui. I developed the “Learn to Surf in one Lesson” technique and my motto was “Specializing in Beginners and Cowards”. My technique became world famous and I could get 99% of my students up in one lesson. I knew if you could walk I could teach you to surf. Well, I’m not on Maui anymore but my love for teaching still runs strong thru my veins. I have started my school in the Central Coast, Pismo Beach area but this time the lessons are for women only. Specifically women over 30. Please contact me and let’s arrange for a lesson or 2.
Check out Jennifer Thomas from Umberto Salon in Beverly Hills new website. I know first hand how talented this woman is. She has been doing my hair for, umm, a very long time! Can I say 22 years?! Ok…it’s true and I will. www.Badhairgonegood.com is Jennifer’s website and she is also my daughter. So do check it out and please make a comment.
Today Rob and I explored the town of Guadalupe, Oso Flaco Lake and the Nipomo Farmer’s Market. Guadalupe is a very cute town situated in an agricultural area. Guadalupe is located in Santa Barbara County, on the Central California coast near the famous Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes. As of the census of 2000, there were 5,659 people, 1,414 households, and 1,217 families residing in the city. The city was established in 1840 and incorporated on August 3, 1946. California’s Pacific Coast Highway, California Highway 1, runs right through the downtown of Guadalupe. Guadalupe is an attractive home for families, providing safe and affordable neighborhoods, excellent restaurants, good schools and a friendly environment.
We had a filling and delicious breakfast at Nardo’s which is a local institution. Nardo’s is a great hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant open for breakfast and lunch only. Lupe cooks everything from scratch so don’t be in a rush. The chili rellenos are huge and delicious. Huevos rancheros come with beans and have a wonderful sauce on top (I found out Lupe uses ginger in the sauce). Not too spicy, and thick with tomatoes, onions and bell peppers. The Mexican style steak is pieces of beef swimming in a red sauce. Excellent food… Inexpensive… Very friendly atmosphere.
We then explored Oso Flaco Lake with it’s hundreds of species of birds, spectacular scenery and sand dunes as far as the eye can see. I am still amazed with the unrivaled beauty of this Central Coast.
After spending a long day beaten up by wind I needed comfort food and that means pizza to me. I didn’t want to sit down and look at an entire pizza and be grossed out since it was just moi. I asked Cousin Rob and he said to try Giuseppe’s Express at 800 Price Street Pismo Beach. So I took myself over there and had not one, but 2 large pieces of pizza. I like plain cheese and that is the first slice I had. They heated it up and when they served it it was still not warm enough. But I was so hungry that I downed it in just shy of a nano-second. Ok. Let’s try that again. “One more slice. This time warmer please.” This time a piping hot slice of their margarita was brought over to me and I was either satisfied or full or mad at myself. Maybe all 3. [click to continue…]
